The Shift in Power
Amare Stoudemire and Carlos Boozer two parts of the shift in power in the Eastern Conference.
This has been an unprecedented year in free agency. Lebron James and Chris Bosh are now team-mates on the Miami Heat. The Western Conference as we know it will not be the same. The Western Conference just got a little weaker.
When the New York knicks signed free agent power forward/center Amare Stoudemire, everything changed. And when the Chicago Bulls signed power forward Carlos Boozer the Eastern Conference suddenly got powerful. The Utah Jazz and the Phoenix Suns will have a hard time recovering from these two free agents leaving their teams.
Which leads to the next question? How will the Philadelphia 76ers adapt to the shift in power. The New York Knicks will be better with Amare Stoudemire on their front line. The Chicago Bulls will also be better with Carlos Boozer at power forward. The 76ers will have to find a way to neutralize their starting lineup in order to adapt to the shift in power in the Eastern Conference.
The 76ers starting five will have to be athletic. With Jrue holiday at point guard and Evan Turner at shooting guard the 76ers are starting on the right track.
Now here’s the tricky part. Head coach Doug Collins will more than likely play Elton Brand at power forward and Andre Iguodala at small forward. Now who’s playing center. Spencer Hawes is 7 foot 1 inches. I realize that he is young and inexperince, so are the 76ers.
Jason Smith and Franciso Elson are also 7 feet as well. Head coach Doug Collins has to make some tough decisions going forward. The 76ers are gambling if they decide to put Andre Iguodala at small forward.
Depending on who the 76ers play, most of the time Iguodala will be under sized. Elton Brand will also have a tough time at power forward dealing with Stoudemire and Boozer.
Don’t forget that Lebron James and Chris Bosh will be on the front line of the Miami Heat as well. The solution to the problem still exsists for the 76ers in terms of players on the roster.
The question is , will head coach Doug Collins go with some of his young big guys to counter what the rest of the Eastern Confernce is doing?
Stay tuned!!!!!!!!
