The Black List
With interest coming from the other side of the World, what will Allen Iverson and other NBA players looking for a new home do in the mean time?
The NBA has what I call the Black List. This is a list of players who for some odd reason either talked their way out of the league or the NBA will not give them a second chance.
Allen Iverson is looking for a new team to go to this season. This will be his 15th season if Iverson can find a team. But their are more then a few players looking for work.
Antoine Walker wants to come back to the NBA. I know he has money problems and image problems but the NBA should reconsider. What about Rashard McCants who played for the Minnesota Timberwolves. McCants said he was tossed out of the NBA because he did not smile enough. McCants is 26 years old and he can’t find a job. Anybody looking for a starting 2 guard.
Stephen Marberry was basically forced to sign with the Chinese Team overseas because the NBA had enough of his act in New York and all of the other NBA teams he played for over the years.
So when Gary Moore Iverson’s manager and business partner said that he was shocked that no NBA team was not interested in Allen Iverson, he should had checked the Black List. It was only a matter of time for Allen Iverson and his baggage to catch up with him.
Every sport has player’s and coach’s who for some other reason are not allowed back into the NBA. Commissioner David Stein will naturally deny these allegations.
However, the next time you are on the computer, google your favorite NBA basketball player and see what’s he doing these days.
Player Profiles Andres Nocioni
Lost in the all of the confusion of who will stay and who will go is the question, that remains unanswered for the Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers may have a gem on the sidelines ready to shine when call upon.
Andres Nocioni is a player who can help the 76ers right now. At 6 foot 7 Nocioni can play shooting guard or small forward. If you don’t know who Andres Nocioni is you will find out this season if he stays healthy. Nocioni played with the Chicago Bulls before being traded to the Sacramento Kings.
Nocioni was a key player for the Bulls 4 years ago when the up start Bulls upset the defending champion Miami Heat. Nocioni lead the way with his outside shooting and timely baskets in the crunch. The Miami Heat could not handle his style of play that entire series.
Injuries played a part in why the Bulls traded away Andres Nocioni. For the past 2 seasons Nocioni was lost amist the cows with the Kings. Nocioni and Spencer Hawes came over to the 76ers from the Kings. Both players were part of the Samuel Delanbert trade.
With new life in Philadelphia, Nocioni should thrive with the 76ers. Nocioni career averge from behind the arc is 38%. The 76ers will need his shooting off the bench to stretch the defense.
Summer League Play
After winning their first 2 games of the summer league, the Philadelphia 76ers have dropped their last 3 games. This was the last day of summer league play in Orlando for the 76ers.
The Utah Jazz defeated the 76ers 85 to 56. The 76ers had major problems scoring in this game. The 76ers scored just 19 points in the second half alone. The Jazz had their way with the 76ers from the outset. The Utah Jazz had their first round pick Gordon Hayward out of Butler on display the entire afternoon. Hayward was hitting wide open jump shots the entire game.
The 76ers did have a much better effort against the Charlotte Bobcats. But, the Bobcats were able to hold on and win the game on a last second tip in basket by 2nd year guard Gerald Henderson Jr. The final score was 77 to 76. Jodie Meeks had 18 points and Evan Turner had 5 points in the loss.
The 76ers interior defense needs a lot of work. None of the 76ers were moving their feet. The Utah Jazz were able to get most of their points in transition.
Rookie Evan Turner is struggling from the field. Evan Turner has to be positive through this process. Evan Turner chipped in 13 points. Jrue Holiday and Marreese Speights sat this game out against the Jazz.
General manager Ed Stefanski was pleased with the 76ers play in Orlando. ” This is what I expected from our young team. I like the way our team is playing defense. Evan Turner is struggling from the field, but his defense has been better than expected. Jrue and Evan will be able to play together in the back court. Both players are unselfish” said by General manager Ed Stefanski.
The Philadelphia 76ers played well at times in summer league play in Orlando. There are still a lot of holes that need to be filled going forward. The play of Jrue Holiday and Jodie Meeks is very encouraging for the young 76ers team moving forward.
