The 76ers Need To Make A Move
Now that Rod Thorn has been named President of Players Operations, their is some business that needs to be taken care of in the front office.
When the season starts the 76ers will have a dilemma of their hands. Who on the 76ers can stretch the defense from the outside. Jrue Holiday has yet to prove that he can do so. Andre Iguodala is not a 3 point shooter either. The pressure will fall on Rookie Evan Turner.
However, if head coach Doug Collins does decide to use someone off the bench it should be Jason Kapono. Kapono is shot 40% from behind the arc when he with the Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors.
Last season former 76ers head coach Eddie Jordan did not play Jason Kapono a lot in his Princeton offense, Head coach Doug Collins will have to make that decision if he wants to stretch the defense with outside shooting.
In the event the 76ers really want to make some noise, Rod Thorn will have to make a trade for a shooter in the off season or at the trade deadline in the regular season.
Thorn has an history of making sound decisions from the front office. Remember Thorn was the one who drafted Michael Jordan in 1984 when he was with the Chicago Bulls.
Rod Thorn was also the one who traded for Jason Kidd when he was the New Jersey Nets President. That trade led to back to back NBA Finals appearances for the New Jersey Nets.
Rod Thorn is the right man for the job for the Philadelphia 76ers this season.
